remember #4 from this post? probably not unless you're my mother, who already knows what it is. what it was (and is) is that my jonjon was offered and has now started a new job! it's only a block from our apartment and the new office environment is lacking the non-stop drama of the lawfirm (it's not that it's that kind of firm, it just has that kind of staff), so he's much less stressed. i'm super proud of him, because as soon as they got their hands on his resume, they were scrambling to hire him, and after 3 weeks of work, they are still almost daily finding that he's even more valuable than they thought he was.
also, as of
today, i am a full-time stay-at-home mom! i'm really excited to have the extra time to spend
with noah, and hopefully to start doing more with my knitting and
sewing. in that vein, when i got home from my last day at work
yesterday, i had a happy "retirement" gift from my wonderful hubby!
i plan to try to blog daily next week to celebrate my at-home-ness, so try to stop by and comment so i feel encouraged to keep it up!
and also, if you haven't, you should visit jonjon's vox and our family blog and check out all the mobile blogging he's been doing with his new iphone!
so when noah and i vacated our steamy apartment to let the blessedly
repaired air conditioner work it's little heiny off getting it all cool
for our return i was at a little bit of a loss as to where to go.
we had already visited sonic for cooling drinks, so i felt it would be
in bad taste to show up at starbucks annd sit around without ordering
just to use thier cold air (although we go there so often, and know so
many of the baristas they probably wouldn't have cared) so i took us to
the only free air conditioned place i could think of: the
library. for those of you who don't know, i've lived in this city
my whole life pretty much, so this is the very same library that my
mother used to bring us to during the summer and often had to remind me
that if i couldn't carry that many books, i couldn't check out that
many books (i really really really like books!). it's been many
many years since then, and i haven't had a library card since before we
got married. so today i finally managed to show up with
appropriate documentation of the fact that i do in fact live 4 blocks
fro the library and get a new card. i felt as if i had won the
lottery. as noah and i wandered in with my new plastic riches
burning in my pocket, i very nearly burst into tears. they have
remodeled tremendously since i was a kid, but the smell is the same, as
are the elevators that don't feel like they're moving and the big
staircase that takes you down to the books.it was old and familiar and
comforting and new and exciting all at the same time. i already
can't wait to get back. so thank You, Lord, for breaking the a/c
so i would go to the library.= )
