...if there's anyone left reading this besides my mom and my husband. shush now, i think you're probably the only one who didn't axe me from you neighborhood when i quit posting regularly!
anyway, a lot has happened in the last few months. jonathan took a job with alamofire, which is pretty much completely awesome! at first that meant a move from our beloved downtown fort worth to the southlake vicinity, or for us, the parental guest house in colleyville while we considered our options. while we were considering, alamofire decided to move to austin! so we shifted focus a few hours south and started visiting austin every other weekend or so. after a some rearrangement of our plans and expectations, we found a loverly house, set a move date, and got moved! so now we've been in austin for about 2 weeks, and so far it's pretty awesome. we miss our friends and family in fort worth, but fortunately we already had some friends in austin, and we really like all the guys (and thier families) that jonathan works with now, so we're not feeling too lonely or anything. in fact, noah's best friend will be moving here in the fall! and speaking of noah, as you may have gathered from a couple posts ago, he is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a little brother or sister in early january or late december! we're really excited about the little jelly bean, but it certainly has been a lot to deal with over the last few months.
so that's what's going on around here. i will now return to my completely random postings of whatever happens to be on my mind.

ok, not really. but i do love tea, and also teapots, and have somehow started a collection without meaning to. it all began when my seester gave me some yummy tea and adorable teacups for a bridesmaid gift. later she found out i had no teapot, so she gave me one of those for christmas. then my voonderbob husband gave me an adorable teapot one day just to remind me that he loves me very much exactly how i am. imagine my distress when i broke it. serious llama face. eventually he gave me a new one, and then my mom got me a seriously cool one and suddenly there are as many teapots as people in our house, and i'm the only one who seriously drinks tea. for some reason this has only made me like teapots more, perhaps because every time i see one, i think of someone i love. speaking of love....
on february 3rd, my mr. jonathanly and i celebrated 8 years of blissful marriage. i have loved every moment of it, even the tough ones, and am thrilled to say that i love him every bit as much and probably more than i did on the day we got married. i still feel like i've been given an incredible gift every day when i wake up and find my best friend already beside me. and this year, my wonderful, thoughtful anniversary gift was, naturally, a new teapot.
i just love it, and feel special and loved every time i make tea in it. like most of our favorite gifts, he found it on etsy, in a loverly shop called urban soule. you should check it out, she makes some truly fabulous stuff!
happy tuesday1

guest starring the bubby and my mr. jonathanly!
this is coming rather later than i intended it to, seeing as it's christmas related, but it's still fun, so....yeah.
paper chain winter wonderland!
first, of course, you need paper. we considered coloring ours first (which would look very festive, i think), but in the end we went with snowy white.
you'll also need scissors and tape.
after some trial and error, i felt that cutting one sheet of paper into 8 strips widthwise resulted in the nicest looking loops. i had the easiest time getting uniform sizes if i folded the paper into 8ths first and then cut along the folds. this can leave a bent edge on your loops, so if you've got a good eye, you might prefer to freehand it like jonathan did.
after cutting strips, it's a simple matter of making a loop with one strip and then another loop through that loop and so forth.
noah was really good (and really liked) making the loops!
we also made a few snowflakes to add to our wonderland, but somehow i don't seem to have pictures of that...
don't make the chains too long, or you'll have a terrible time handling them. don't forget to decorate yourself a little during the process.
after you have all the chains you want, (we ran out of time for all we wanted, but still really enjoyed what we had you'll need someone skilled in the stepladderly arts who also has a good eye for draping and looping. in our house that is unequivicaly jonathan. (i'm fine on a stepladder, but not so much with the making pretty stuff).
once it's all hung, sit down, drink some cocoa, and admire the loveliness!
i've always liked october. my birthday is this month. and my sexy man's birthday, too. and it finally starts to seem as if summer in texas may actually go away for a couple months. i start leaving the windows open and irresistabley wanting to bake a lot and eat soup at every meal. october is a nice month. that's all i have to say about that.
and completely unrelated:
i now present to you:
purple car on a saturday morning; a photographic study by noah
someday, i will become a better blogger. until then, some very random photos, mostly for the entertainment of my seester, and because i feel guilty about bugging my mother to blog all the time and not doing any myself.
so. there has been knitting:
it was 105 degrees that day. we drank a lot of water, and took frequent trips to the air conditioned restroom!
the last one is my favorite. isn't he just so cute!

it is my opinion that if you're thinking something nice about someone, you should tell them and maybe afew other people as well. it makes anyone happy to hear something nice about themselves, and to know you're telling other people nice things about them, and i don't know about you, but i feel happier when i hear someone say something nice about someone else, even if i don't know the sayer or the sayee! so on that note....
~jonathan's parents celebrate their 39th anniversary today. i think that's amazing, and we are super blessed
to have them as our parents/parents-in-law and noah's grandparents
~our friends clint and elizabeth have been doing this workout thing with a trainer that's really intense, and they've been so committed and done such a great job, i'm really really impressed.
~my jonathan works so very hard every day to take great care of me and noah. he strives for excellence in everything he does, and daily sets the most wonderful example for noah (and me!) of what it is to be a Godly man. we could not ask for a better husband and father.
~my mother is in uganda (east africa) working with a mission team there for a year. not a day goes by that i don't think about her, and miss her and at the same time feel overwhlemed with how proud i am of what she's doing. i love my mom so very much. she's awesome.= )
and today noah got this card in the mail from her:
so those are my happy thoughts at the moment. what are yours?
so one of my fun mother's day prizes was these nifty notepads:
they do that handy fold back thing and have the coolest lines inside:
i went to the website printed on the back (as i often do with things i like) and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but the line of fabric they have with the same nifty prints as my notepads!
i am so going to need some of this....
*this is long and rambling. you've been forewarned*
**i'm not going to link my seester's page every time i mention her, it'll drive me crazy. same for my jonjon.**
so i did make it to west palm beach to visit my seester in spite of the icky weather. i did have to leave a day later, but i also got to stay a day later thanks to the flexibility of my seester and the non-rev passes from my jonjon's parents. mostly we just hung around and knit or shopped. this is my adorable seester driving us somewhere. probably publix, because it's not a trip to west palm unless we go to publix at least once a day. and we did.= )
when i got there my seester had prizes for me, like always! a fun pencil case to be used for double pointed needles:
piglet! my very favorite character from winnie-the-pooh. but wait! he opens:
and inside...
on sunday sarah's friend marce (who is awesome!) came over to knit and sarah hauled out her stash for us to ogle. yikes, she has a lot of yarn! and of course, i came home with some of it.
this is destined to be a charity sweater for a kid (a girl, i hope!) who needs a sweater. i need sarah to tell me what the name of the thing is again, but i think it was knit for kids. since it's almost spring now, and i am a very slow knitter, this will probably wait until later to be cast-on. the yarn highlight of the trip was this stuff:
we hit sarah's lys, great balls of yarn, the one she designs for a lot, and i went in search of the perfect yarn for this p idea that has been flitting about in my head for a while, and when i touched this stuff, i knew it was perfect. it's silk and bamboo and feels unbelievably soft. i came close to making complete strangers fondle it, it's so amazing. just touching it makes me happy. seriously, it's good. by the way, it came in hanks, my seester wound it into those neat little center pull balls by hand. in about five minutes. she is in tune with yarn, ladies and gentlemen. so i got it just in time to take it to sarah's knit night, the first knitting group i've ever been to. it was so fun! lots of knitting and laughing and passing around of the buttery soft yarn. i may have to look into a local knitting group. or, better yet, convert all of my friends to knitters and have them all over to my house once a week. that would be awesome! any volunteers?= )
so after my loverly weekend of rest and knitting, and not having to cook or clean or put anyone to bed, i headed home to finally be back with my husband who i missed so much it was terrible. (we haven't been apart for this long - 5 days - since we got married.) my loverly in-laws fetched me from the airport and took me and the bubby (who stayed with them for the weekend except for the sfternoon he spent with his marmee) home where we promptly fell asleep, him because he's four and always naps, and me because i didn't sleep much since i seriously can't sleep without my man to snuggle with. we woke up just in time for jonjon to get home with...
more surprises for me! seriously, i've just had christmas again folks. we live in a highrise apartment building with no outdoor space and i have a thing for grass, so he brought me grass:
more yarn!
so now i'll leave you with my fabulous seester and her great hubby who made my weekend so special:
and a cautionary photo, what happens when you pack your son's surprise at the bottom of the bag and then tell him you have a surprise before you unpack:

i have so much i want to blog about! (yarn yarn yarn!) my trip was fabulous, my seester is fabulous, coming home to my family (my wonderful snuggly hubby, how did i get any sleep without you! wait, i didn't....) was fabulous, too. i tend to let the blogging slide until it's too late, so do me a favor and leave a comment telling me that you want to hear all about it, even if you don't. maybe that will motivate me to blog this afternoon. right now i need to go to target for FOOD!
