it is my opinion that if you're thinking something nice about someone, you should tell them and maybe afew other people as well. it makes anyone happy to hear something nice about themselves, and to know you're telling other people nice things about them, and i don't know about you, but i feel happier when i hear someone say something nice about someone else, even if i don't know the sayer or the sayee! so on that note....
~jonathan's parents celebrate their 39th anniversary today. i think that's amazing, and we are super blessed
to have them as our parents/parents-in-law and noah's grandparents
~our friends clint and elizabeth have been doing this workout thing with a trainer that's really intense, and they've been so committed and done such a great job, i'm really really impressed.
~my jonathan works so very hard every day to take great care of me and noah. he strives for excellence in everything he does, and daily sets the most wonderful example for noah (and me!) of what it is to be a Godly man. we could not ask for a better husband and father.
~my mother is in uganda (east africa) working with a mission team there for a year. not a day goes by that i don't think about her, and miss her and at the same time feel overwhlemed with how proud i am of what she's doing. i love my mom so very much. she's awesome.= )
and today noah got this card in the mail from her:
so those are my happy thoughts at the moment. what are yours?
so one of my fun mother's day prizes was these nifty notepads:
they do that handy fold back thing and have the coolest lines inside:
i went to the website printed on the back (as i often do with things i like) and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but the line of fabric they have with the same nifty prints as my notepads!
i am so going to need some of this....
*this is long and rambling. you've been forewarned*
**i'm not going to link my seester's page every time i mention her, it'll drive me crazy. same for my jonjon.**
so i did make it to west palm beach to visit my seester in spite of the icky weather. i did have to leave a day later, but i also got to stay a day later thanks to the flexibility of my seester and the non-rev passes from my jonjon's parents. mostly we just hung around and knit or shopped. this is my adorable seester driving us somewhere. probably publix, because it's not a trip to west palm unless we go to publix at least once a day. and we did.= )
when i got there my seester had prizes for me, like always! a fun pencil case to be used for double pointed needles:
piglet! my very favorite character from winnie-the-pooh. but wait! he opens:
and inside...
on sunday sarah's friend marce (who is awesome!) came over to knit and sarah hauled out her stash for us to ogle. yikes, she has a lot of yarn! and of course, i came home with some of it.
this is destined to be a charity sweater for a kid (a girl, i hope!) who needs a sweater. i need sarah to tell me what the name of the thing is again, but i think it was knit for kids. since it's almost spring now, and i am a very slow knitter, this will probably wait until later to be cast-on. the yarn highlight of the trip was this stuff:
we hit sarah's lys, great balls of yarn, the one she designs for a lot, and i went in search of the perfect yarn for this p idea that has been flitting about in my head for a while, and when i touched this stuff, i knew it was perfect. it's silk and bamboo and feels unbelievably soft. i came close to making complete strangers fondle it, it's so amazing. just touching it makes me happy. seriously, it's good. by the way, it came in hanks, my seester wound it into those neat little center pull balls by hand. in about five minutes. she is in tune with yarn, ladies and gentlemen. so i got it just in time to take it to sarah's knit night, the first knitting group i've ever been to. it was so fun! lots of knitting and laughing and passing around of the buttery soft yarn. i may have to look into a local knitting group. or, better yet, convert all of my friends to knitters and have them all over to my house once a week. that would be awesome! any volunteers?= )
so after my loverly weekend of rest and knitting, and not having to cook or clean or put anyone to bed, i headed home to finally be back with my husband who i missed so much it was terrible. (we haven't been apart for this long - 5 days - since we got married.) my loverly in-laws fetched me from the airport and took me and the bubby (who stayed with them for the weekend except for the sfternoon he spent with his marmee) home where we promptly fell asleep, him because he's four and always naps, and me because i didn't sleep much since i seriously can't sleep without my man to snuggle with. we woke up just in time for jonjon to get home with...
more surprises for me! seriously, i've just had christmas again folks. we live in a highrise apartment building with no outdoor space and i have a thing for grass, so he brought me grass:
more yarn!
so now i'll leave you with my fabulous seester and her great hubby who made my weekend so special:
and a cautionary photo, what happens when you pack your son's surprise at the bottom of the bag and then tell him you have a surprise before you unpack:
= )
i have so much i want to blog about! (yarn yarn yarn!) my trip was fabulous, my seester is fabulous, coming home to my family (my wonderful snuggly hubby, how did i get any sleep without you! wait, i didn't....) was fabulous, too. i tend to let the blogging slide until it's too late, so do me a favor and leave a comment telling me that you want to hear all about it, even if you don't. maybe that will motivate me to blog this afternoon. right now i need to go to target for FOOD!
= )
my jonjon left for sxsw today. i hate being without my voonderbob man.= ( so i'm consoling myself with a visit to my seester! i was supposed to leave this morning, but the freaky storm weather killed that idea. thanks to the flexibility of my gracious in-laws and my loverly seester, i'll still get to stay the same amount of time, i'm just leaving a day later and coming home a day later. and since i suddenly had an extra morning before my mr. jonathanly left, i had time to whip this little guy up to go in his "i'll miss you so much" goodie bag:
***the photos have fixed themselves!***
we are quite forlorn here today, as our daddy (my jonjon) left for a business conference today. in 7 years of marriage he has never had to do this before, and i'm not sure we've been apart for this long since we got married. he won't be back until late in the evening on friday. yucky.
so we decided to console ourselves by painting pictures for him.
noah's looks like this:
here's mine:
yes, i'm more abstract. i think i'll call it... marriage.

What's the most memorable crush you have had?
Submitted by spectacular.
i usually hardly even notice these, but i couldn't pass this one up! = )
***sappy content alert!!!!***
about 8 1/2 and a half years ago, i was really struggling. things
were really not where i had expected them to be by this point in
my life. (i was 19) i was going to UNT (university of north
texas) and working nights and driving about 2 hours of the day to get
to work and school. when the semester finished, i decided i
needed a break to destress, so i quit my nighttime job (loading trucks
for what is now fedex ground) and started looking for something in the
daytime with plans to work through the year and pick up school the next
year. i also started getting involved at the church of one of my
very best friends, jet. there i met this guy. he was tall
and skinny (yes, skinny) and lots of things i had never seen in
a guy before. he was kind and patient and very devoted to
God. he was extremely funny, a very good friend, artsy and
talented in all those ways that i will never be and will always be in
awe of. and he played the guitar. and he wrote his own
songs. i began to feel a tad smitten. then one evening i
was at his house for a bible study and then hanging out into the wee
hours the way college students do. i was feeling kinda down,
missing the things i had lost, wondering where i was headed. the
subject of songs with people's names came up, and i complained that the
only song about a jenny is not really something you want song about or
to you. he hopped up and said, "i'll write you a song" and left
to get his guitar. sure enough, about twenty minutes later, he
sang me this wonderful song that seemed to speak to all the things i
was feeling, and i was a goner. i was all his, whether he wanted
me or not. after that we started spending more time together,
becoming really good friends, all the while me desperately wanting so
much more, but not willing to take a chance that saying something might
ruin what we had. to borrow from the movies, he made me want to
be a better person. that october on my birthday, he wrote me
another song, which included the words, "i love you", but i just
couldn't believe that he meant it as more than a friendly kind of
love. he began to think of us a couple, i didn't dare. then
one night at a christmas party, i cought his eyes across the room and
he just mouthed, "i love you." my ears roared, the room spun, and
i couldn't breathe. it actually took several moments before i
realized that this probably called for a response. it was all i
could do to contain my shout to the mere lip movements, "i love you,
too." within a week, we were talking marriage, but it turned out
that we had to wait over a year, until febuary 3, 2001, when i married
that unforgettable crush. he sitting on the couch next to me,
eating ice cream. and the room still spins when he says, "i love
you." i love you, my jonathan, i'm so glad this is where my life is right now, and i'm going to love wherever it goes, as long as i get to be with you.
my seester tagged me, and i tag everybody in the blogging couples group, and anybody (anybody?) who reads this. tell me when you're done so i can be sure to read it.
1. Who is your man? Jonathan David Carroll
2. How long have you been together? we met sometime in 1999, and the
story goes that jonjon thought of us as a couple by our birthdays, but
i really couldn't believe that he would want to be with me until
december when he said he loved me.
3. How long dated? if it had been in our hands, we would have been engaged by like january, but to make a looooooooongstory short, we got engaged in august 2000.
4. How old is your man? he turned 29 on monday!
5. Who eats more? it depends. if i'm having a good day, he does (a little), on a bad day i totally leave him in the dust!
6. Who said "I love you" first? jonathan did at a christmas party at a friends house. it was really crowded we were across the room from each other and i looked at him and he just mouthed "i love you". honest to goodness i nearly fainted.= ) actually, things still get a little hazy when he tells me he loves me!= )
7. Who is taller? jonathan, i'm 5'3" (and 3/4"!) and he's 6 feet tall.
8. Who sings better? without a doubt, jonathan. he sings wonderfully and writes the most wonderful songs. i can't carry a tune in a bucket.....
9. Who is smarter? i like to think we're about equal, but in different areas. we compliment each other well, i think.
10. Whose temper is worse? hmmmmm. we're both be-quietly-upset-and-don't-say-anything-until-the-other-one-drags-it-out-of-you types, so it's hard to tell.
11. Who does the laundry? me! i actually kindof enjoy laundry. i can watch movies while i fold and iron, and i still get a thrill from seeing our clothes all together.= )
12. Who takes out the garbage? whichever one of us remembers to grab it when we're heading out the door and have time to go through the basement. if we're together, jonathan always takes it form me.
13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? when we're in it, or looking at it? him if we're in it, me if you're looking at it.
14. Who pays the bills? jonanthan.
15. Who is better with the computer? jonathan.
16. Who mows the lawn? no one! we live in the city! (and that's the way we like it!)
17. Who cooks dinner? i do. i enjoy cooking and, hello!, he works, i stay home, duh.
18. Who drives when you are together? jonathan. he's the better driver, and i like to knit when we go anywhere that takes more than 15 minutes.
19. Who pays when you go out? jonathan, although it doesn't really matter who puts the card on the table, because we've never kept separate finances, and jonathan's the one who works, so unless we wanted to get into some freaky allowance thing, or he started "paying" me for dishes and laundry, it's all "ours". (have i ever mentioned how wonderful it is that i have a husband who never makes me feel less important because i'm not bringing home a paycheck?)
20. Who is most stubborn? probably me.
21. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? by the time we're taling about it (whatever it is) we usually both need to ask some forgiveness, and i don't think one of us goes first more often.
22. Whose parents do you see the most? both about the same.
23. Who kissed who first? good question. i think we met halfway.
24. Who asked who out? um.... our dating wasn't normal so nobody really asked the other one out. i fell in love first.
25. Who proposed? jonathan did at the lake by singing me a song he wrote. i cried and a policeman came to tell us the park was about to close and we would need to go and then figured out what was going on. it was pretty funny. it's hard to jump on and snuggle a man holding a guitar.
26. Who is more sensitive? to what? tickling? jonathan. criticism? me.
27. Who has more friends? jonathan.
28. Who has more siblings? jonathan. he's the middle child (yes, i know) with an older brother and a younger sister (my voonderbob seester!), and i just claim his siblings and best friends as my brothers (and seester!)
29. Who wears the pants in the family? jonathan. i prefer skirts, they make my hips look smaller.= )
and as the icing on the cake, some piccies of my man's berfday!
1. friday, noah and i made a jillion tiny play-doh leaves and then decided they needed a tree to go on:
2. my voonderbob hubby bought me a new teapot to replace the poor one that broke.
3. i made a new bag! i kinda want to perfect this one and try to sell it at some local shops. the trim is some of the stuff my seester sent me a few months ago.
sewing the trim on was the scariest part. i've never done it, and i was really afraid that i'd manage to yank off oa bead and get it stuck in the machine somehow.
ta-da! and...
it's reversable! (and in need of pressing.) i'm totally open to suggestions, as long as you don't get your feeling hurt if i don't run with it.
4. some other really big type stuff, but i think they have to wait a few days to go public.
